In My Own Words

My name is Todd Cook. I have been married to my wonderful wife Emily for almost 14 years. Together, we have 2 kids, Owen (9) and Clare (7). We own E&T FOAMHOME just outside of Grand Rapids Michigan. Owning and operating our spray foam company has given us the ability to have Emily stay at home and homeschool our kids, which was her lifelong dream.

I have been spraying closed cell spray foam since 2018 and found it to be a very rewarding industry to be a part of. Over the years I have made a lot of friends in the industry and noticed that there are a lot of fellow foamers that have stories to tell. I have enjoyed listening to podcasts for years and I find them to be educational and entertaining.

For a couple years now, I have often thought about how fun it would be to interview the people of the industry on a podcast. What kept me from doing it was that voice in my head that told me I have no business talking about, and creating content for an industry I have only been in for a few years and don’t even come close to making the list of those with the most knowledge and experience.

Well, In the spring of 2024, I decided it was time to shut that voice up, and just do it. And, whether this podcast does great, or if it doesn’t do much at all, instead of just thinking about it, I decided to give it a shot!

One thing that I didn’t want to do is turn a fun thing into a “job” or try to create something that comes off as very “Professional”. I wanted the listener to feel like they have the ability to be like a fly in the room, and listen to a conversation of some fellow industry professionals. So, you won’t find it short and to the point, it won’t be heavily edited, and it won’t be anywhere near perfect. We literally turn the mics and cameras on, have hopefully a great conversation, and then turn them off at the end. And typically that is our episode for you to consume. As I get older I realize more and more how important it is to never stop learning. And, that there is so much knowledge we can pick up, just from each other if we just take the time to listen. My other goal is that you get the feeling that you kind of know this person, even though you may have never met them or even been in the same room as them. Because occasionally, we have industry meet-ups, and it is then that you might see them and stick out your hand and introduce yourself. What is better than making a new friend? Thanks you for listening to my podcast.
